William Bracken Semmes, age 63, died late Thursday, August 4, 2016 at UT Medical Center after continuing serious health issues. Bill was a very dear man loved by many, one who made friends readily and kept them for many years. He enjoyed computers and his music and movie collections. He earned an associate degree in criminal justice at Middle Tennessee State University and worked for some time as a paralegal. For several years he was the owner of Access Express, a wheel chair accessible transportation service. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Harrington and Helen Bracken Semmes. He is survived by sisters Susan S. Paulus, Mary S. Ammerman, and Janet S. Chafin; brothers-in-law Thomas J. Paulus and J. Scott Chafin; nephews Michael J. Paulus, Richard S. Paulus, Scott E. Ammerman, Eric S. Ammerman, Steven S. Guthrie and niece Catherine P. Toth. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9 at St. John XXIII University Parish, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00, Rev. Don Andrie, CSP, presiding. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Alcoa.
