Willie Grace Irwin Margrave

Grace Irwin Margrave, born September 16, 1907, at Andersonville, TN, died peacefully on March 13, 2008, at Shannondale of Maryville Health Care Center. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Clinton, and the Eastern Star. She was retired from the Anderson County School System as a teacher and principal. She attended Lincoln Memorial University and was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt University, with additional graduate study at Boston University and the University of Tennessee. She was a Life Member of the National Education Association and the Tennessee Retired Teachers Association. She was an active member and officer for 69 years in the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a professional organization for women educators. She was preceded in death by parents F. M. (Boss) and Nora Stooksbury Irwin; brothers and sisters-in-law Bruce and Euretha Irwin, and Frank E. and Susie Irwin; sisters Winnie Irwin, and Bonnie Irwin Carden, and brother-in-law Lawrence W. Carden; husbands Harold Ellenburg and Frank Margarve. Survivors include niece Patricia Moriarty, Reisterstown MD; and nephews and wives Jack T. Irwin of Clarksville (Ann), F. Gordon Irwin (Kay), Maryville, and John E. Irwin (Sue), Birmingham, AL, and step-son John Margrave, Santa Monica, CA, six great-nieces, five great-nephews, four great-great nieces and seven great-great nephews. An interment service will be conducted at the Andersonville Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on March 22. The family requests no flowers.
