Retired Command Sergeant Major William Philip McClanahan, Jr., age 94, February 6, 2019 went to be in heaven with his loving wife of 62 years, Billie Barnard McClanahan. He served 26 years in the US Army, serving in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam. He is preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Ruth Mathews and wife, Billie Barnard McClanahan. He is survived by daughter, Pat Nelson and husband, Jim; daughter, Michele Roach and husband, Michael; 3 grandchildren, Shannon Nelson, Jaime Nelson, Erika Stapleton and husband, Roy; 2 great-grandchildren, Channing Bragg and Rhett Bragg. He is also survived by his many cousins and his loving special friend, Margie Price. We would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living at Sandy Springs and UT Hospital Staff on the 8th Heart Floor and 7th South Floor for all the love and attention they gave our father. He was our hero! The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019 at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with the service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Ronnie Hepperly and Rev. Mike Roach officiating. The interment will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Grandview Cemetery with full military honors.
