William Lee Hannah

June 28, 1914 — November 14, 2002

HANNAH, Lee, age 88, of Maryville, died Thursday, November 14, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was born June 28, 1914, attended Everett High School and graduated in 1937 from Maryville College. He was inducted into the college's Athletic Wall of Fame for Excellence in Athletic Achievement (for basketball) in 1984. He was a member of Tener's semi-professional basketball team. He was a 25-Year-Club retiree from ALCOA and a member of Rockford Masonic Lodge #469. Lee belonged to First Christian Church of Maryville, where he served as an elder and taught Bible Class for many years. His hobbies included golf (he had three holes-in- one), bowling, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mavorette Cupp Hannah, and sister, Gladys Hannah White. Survivors include: sister, Grayce Hannah Cabage; stepdaughter, Yvonne Cupp Goddard; nephews and their wives, Bill and Linda Cabage and George and Pat Cabage; nieces and husbands, Betsy and David Jones and Ethel and Doug Woods. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Eubanks officiating and Casey Hancock assisting. The interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
