William Kenneth ''Ken'' Stair

STAIR, William Kenneth ''Ken'', age 86, of Maryville, TN passed away on September 6, 2007 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Member of New Providence Presbyterian Church and former member of Lake Hills Presbyterian Church in Knoxville. Professor Emeritus, University of Tennessee with more than 38 years of service as Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Associate Dean, and Acting Dean of the College where he received many awards for his service and research. He was a member of several technical societies, and a veteran of WWII serving as Captain in the US Army Air Force. Preceded in death by parents, John and Paralee Stair, and first wife, Dorothy K. Stair. Survived by wife Merle, son, Peter & wife Wanda Stair of Knoxville, daughter, Lynda and husband Robert W. Pollock of Lilburn, GA, stepdaughter, Laurie Wood, Alcoa, sisters, Winfred Martin, Norfolk, VA, Sue Hardin, Nashville, Johnnie Lou Riddle, Knoxville, grandchildren, Kathryn and Jimmy Stair, Robert S. and James Pollock; step grandchildren, Carla and Steven Ellis, Will Breeden, several great grandchildren. The family would like to express their appreciation to everyone for their acts of kindness, prayers, and especially to those who cared for him during his illness. May God bless each of you. A memorial service will be held at Lake Hills Presbyterian Church, 3805 Maloney Rd., Knoxville, TN 37920 on Sunday, September 9 at 6:30 pm.
