William John Gibson

October 8, 1930 — April 4, 2013

William Bill Gibson, 82, went home to be with his Savior on Thursday, April 4, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, Otha Gibson, Sr.; his mother, Dannie Estelle Gibson; his stepmother, Dewey Mae Gibson; and his six siblings, Helen Gibson Kerr, Otha Gibson Jr., Juanita Gibson Gerber, Willodene Gibson Mills, Margaret Gibson Young, and Daniel Gibson. A Maryville native, Bill graduated from Everett High School in 1949 before serving four years in the Air Force. After receiving an electrical engineering degree from the University of Tennessee, he took a job in Bristol, Tenn., where he also raised his family and was an active member of the First Baptist Church. Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wanda Cox Gibson; his brother, Jim Gibson and wife Roxie; his three children, Lesa Gibson Wilson, John Gibson, and Amanda Gibson Stewart and husband Mark; and his three granddaughters, Lynsey Marie Wilson, Hannah Rose Gibson, and Adeline Estelle Stewart. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. The committal and interment will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at 9 a.m. at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Bill Gibson to the Special Music/Concert Fund at First Baptist Church, Bristol, Va.
