William E. (Ed) Rasar, 91, of Alcoa, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He received a Purple Heart during World War II. He was preceded in death by father and mother, Bart and Louizy Rasar; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cecil and Ben Lee, Ada and Floyd Coffman; brother, James Rasar; grandson, Larry Bright. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Mary Amanda Rasar; sons and daughters-in-law, Butch and Jackie Rasar of Alcoa, Verlin and Dorothy (Betty) Bright of Ball Play; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Dale Stephens of Maryville; grandchildren, Paula and Neal Buckingham of Maryville, Kim Stephens and Jeff Mausolf of TX, Lennie and Debbie Bright of Seymour; Susie and Ed Cole of Dandridge, Arlie and Kelly Bright of Washington State, Erma and Tony Burleson of Alcoa, Leonard and Carolyn Lewis of TX; 14 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Annie Rae Thompson of Ball Play; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Leon and Retha Kelley and Family; caregivers, Jackie Rasar and Jimmie Akers. Family and friends will meet at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Unitia Cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. Joe Black officiating.
