William (Darrell) Kerr

October 22, 1935 — August 25, 2016

William (Darrell) Kerr, age 80, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016. He was at home with his loving wife of 57 years, Sandra Tankersley Kerr. Darrell was a life-long dedicated Christian and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church of Maryville, TN. Darrell was raised on a farm in Friendsville, TN and eventually moved to Gainesville, GA to work in the tire sales industry. In Gainesville he won the heart of his beautiful wife, Sandra, and they were married after being engaged for only three months on July 19, 1959. They had three children, all girls, whom he spoiled and inspired to become successful, Christian adults with their own families. Darrell was also a tremendous fan of the Tennessee Vols sports teams and loved to wear orange. He loved camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, NASCAR, traveling and ministering to people. Preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Lela Kerr; sister, Reba Faye McDaniel. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra Kerr; daughters and sons-in-law, Dixie and Peter Speck, Darla and Wayne Saxe, Dana West; grandchildren, Jesse and Lindsey West, Brad, David, and Leila Saxe. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Saturday, August 27, 2016, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Williamson officiating. The interment will follow in Cades Cove Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive 12:30-2:00pm Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 100 S. Rankin Road, P.O. Box 309, Alcoa, TN 37701.
