William "Bill" K. Howell

William "Bill" Kiskadden Howell, longtime resident of Maryville, departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and family at the age of 90.

Born July 21, 1934, in Maryville, Tennessee, to the late George D. Howell, Sr, and Sarah Kiskadden Howell, William graduated from Maryville High School, served his country in the United States Navy for two years, then received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a focus on Personnel Management on June 7, 1959, from the University of Tennessee. He excelled in music with a beautiful baritone voice that was enjoyed by many throughout the years as a member of the U.S. Navy Choir and the University of Tennessee singers, a soloist at several churches, as well as by request at many weddings and funerals.

William is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Joan Helton Howell of Maryville; his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Cole and grandson, Joseph Wayne Cole of Maryville, grandson Gary Michael McGhee and his wife, Meredith, and great-grandchildren Mary Grace, Patrick, Aidan, and Liam all of Clemmons, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by sister, Margaret Kiskadden Howell (Peggy) of Indianapolis, Indiana, and brother George D. Howell of Jackson, Tennessee.

His survivors welcome family and friends to sign the register at McCammon Ammons Click funeral home in Maryville, Tennessee from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Friday, December 20. The service will be held on Saturday, December 21 at 11:00 AM, and will be officiated by his grandson, Pastor Gary McGhee of Restoration Community Church in Lexington, North Carolina, with eulogy by grandson, Joseph Cole, and music provided by a long-time friend, Dwain Pesterfield, of Maryville, Tennessee. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at Grandview Cemetery in Maryville.
