William Baldwin Moore, Jr.

December 20, 1951 — October 24, 2014

William Baldwin Moore, Jr., 62 of Colonial Heights, Virginia died with family at his side on Oct. 24, 2014 in Maryland, where he managed the US Army Reserve (USARC) New Equipment Fielding Facility. Prior to work with USARC, Mr. Moore had retired with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer after 29 years in the U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command. Mr. Moore's military service was recognized with many awards, including numbers of medals for Meritorious Service and Army Commendation. His postings included Fort Lee, Fort Bragg, Hungary, Germany, Seoul, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran, among others. Mr. Moore received a BS from Southern Illinois University College of Engineering, and was a veteran of the Iraq Desert Storm war. "Bill" to family and friends, he was known for his infectious humor, discipline, generosity, a heart of gratitude that fueled a desire to help others grow in their careers, and most importantly, an unrelenting value and deep love for family and country. Though he worked in many countries, Tennessee was always home, and he returned with family over the years for long holidays and to enjoy the hunting and fishing that were hobbies from his youth. He is survived by his much loved wife Mary Graham Moore; the apples of his eyes - daughter Michele Melissa Moore and granddaughter Jazmyne Autumn Moore of Colonial Heights, VA; his beloved mother Kathleen Carter Moore, Tallahassee, FL; sisters Sheila Moore Andrus, San Francisco, CA and Charlette Lorena Moore, Tallahassee, FL; and nieces and nephew Erika Moore Bertlesen and Kenyon Moore Bertlesen, Tallahassee, Catherine Pilar Andrus, New York; and Chloe Marie Andrus, San Francisco. Mr. Moore's father, William B. Moore, Sr. is deceased. The family will receive friends at McCammon-Ammons Funeral Home, 220 W Broadway Ave, Maryville, TN on Nov. 6th, 5:00-7:00 PM. The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday Nov. 7th at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 314 W. Broadway Ave, Maryville, with his brother-in-law, the Rt. Rev. Marc Andrus, Bishop of California and the Rev. Steve Mosher, Rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, officiating. Internment will follow at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Hwy, Alcoa, TN.
