Wilburn Cordell Hoglen -age 80 of Maryville, passed away Saturday, August 8th, 2009 at Asbury Place. He graduated from Carson Newman College with a BA and New Orleans Baptist Seminary with a Masters of Divinity. He pastored churches in Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Michigan. He served with the International Mission Board in Venezuela and Paraguay from 1969-1995. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Many people knew him by his amateur radio operator call sign W4LAD and his ministry in helping with organizing communications to the United States while on the mission field. Preceded in death by his parents, Everett B. And Hallie Stiles Hoglen; brothers, Rimer, Joseph, Harrel, and Ted Hoglen. Survivors include: wife, Betty Miller Hoglen; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jennifer Hoglen of Brussels Belgium, Dr. Dean and Donna Hoglen of Baton Rouge, LA; granddaughters, Blair Hoglen, Jenna Hoglen, and Anika Hoglen all of Brussels Belgium; grandson, Dillon Hoglen of Baton Rouge, LA; brothers, Jack Hoglen of Candler, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Peggy Hoglen of Simpsonville, NC. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Ballard and Nathan Byrd officiating. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:30-8:00 pm Monday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
