Wendell Dale Wagner

December 1, 1934 — April 20, 2020

Wendell Dale Wagner, born December 1, 1934, left this Earth to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, April 20th. He was a resident of Shannondale Nursing Home where he died peacefully in his sleep.

Dale was recently preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn McMahan Wagner this past Fall, and was also preceded in death by his parents, father, Theodore Wagner and his mother, Daisy Lane Wagner; brothers, Ralph of Maryville and Claude Wagner of Rockwood; and this past December, his sister, Twilla Weesner, of Marietta, Georgia.

“Dale” grew up in the Hubbard community of Blount County, graduating from Walland High School. Upon graduation from high school, Dale was drafted into the Army and served in Germany. Dale was a 32nd degree mason and member of the lodge in Rockford and was an OA member of the Boy Scouts of America. He retired from the Alcoa Aluminum company having worked as a mechanical specialist (millwright) for 34 years. Dale was also an active deacon and devoted member of Oak View Baptist Church for many years and enjoyed antique tractors, farming, and camping. In retirement, Dale and his wife, JoAnn, enjoyed attending all their grandsons’ school activities.

Dale is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Susan Wagner, and David and Gina Wagner of Maryville. He is also survived by his grandsons; Luke Wagner and his wife, Keri Wagner of Lenoir City; Clay Wagner of Maryville, Cody Wagner, and his wife Caitlin Wagner of Knoxville; and Nolan Wagner of Maryville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and extended family.

A graveside service will be held for the immediate family through McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Wednesday, April 22nd, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Alcoa, Tennessee. Oak View pastor, Rev. Scott Huffstetler will officiate livestream service on the Oakview Church Facebook page.
