Mrs. Wanda N. Reed of Jonesborough, TN, passed away Thursday April 15, 2010, at Wellington Place in Johnson City, TN. Mrs. Reed was born in Maryville, TN to the late Elmer and Mary Ella LeQuire Reed and was a graduate of Everett High School. She attended the University of Tennessee, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Chapter of Sigma Kappa Sorority, and graduated from East Tennessee State University. Mrs. Reed taught mathematics in the Washington County school system for twenty-seven years until her retirement. She was a member of the Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Mrs. Reed loved teaching and took great pride in the accomplishments of her students. Active in community affairs throughout her life, Mrs. Reed was a member and former president of the Schubert Club of Jonesborough and was a member of the Goodwill Circle, the Tuesday Garden Club, the Andrew Jackson Democrat Women’s Club, the Monday Club of Johnson City and the Washington County Retired Teachers Association as well as serving on the Civic Trust of Jonesborough. Mrs. Reed was a long-time member and former Sunday School teacher of the First Baptist Church of Jonesborough. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lon N. Reed, Jr., and her brother, Cambrai J. Reed. She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Lon N. Reed, III, and his wife Pamela Payne Reed, and Jonathan D. Reed, and his wife Heather Prouty Reed. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Lieutenant Commander Cambrai Reed Harty, USN; grandson, Joshua LeQuire Reed; grandson, Casey Culver Reed; granddaughter, Peyton Victoria Reed; step-granddaughter, Jennifer Lee Lucas; and great-granddaughter, Julia Ruth Harty. The family will receive friends from 9:45-10:45 a.m. on Friday, April 23, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville and then proceed to Sherwood Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the East Tennessee State University Foundation and the First Baptist Church of Jonesborough.
