Wanda Maye Eskew Hatcher passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years old on Thursday evening, May 5, 2016. A quick friend to everyone she met, Wanda simply loved and cared about people. Wanda was a dedicated teacher and administrator, a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a faithful church member who exercised to the fullest every gift that God gave her. Wanda loved singing and was an accomplished pianist, sharing those talents at Shannondale worship services up until weeks before she went to be with Her Savior. Wanda was born August 11, 1927 in Mt. Hope, West Virginia, having moved to Maryville in 1960. She was predeceased by her parents Elbert Burton Eskew and Pearl Ruby Eskew; her husband, Daniel Gray Hatcher, Jr.; her brother E. Wendell Eskew; and her sister Mary Lee Hanson. She is survived by her sister, Wilda Gay Brown, and her two sons, Daniel Grey Hatcher, III (Chris) and Stephen B. Hatcher (Becky). Wanda had four wonderful grandchildren (Nathan, Ben, Megan and Danny), three great-grandchildren (Sophie, Evie and Stephen) as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Wanda will be buried at a private graveside service on Thursday morning, May 12, at Grandview Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service to be held at 11am that morning at Highland Presbyterian Church, 721 East Alexander Parkway (Hwy. 321), Maryville, TN 37804. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Wanda's memory to Highland Presbyterian Church.
