Walter Lee Riggs

Mr. Walter Lee Riggs ("Walt") of Palmersville, Tennessee, age 74, passed away on April 26, 2015 in Nashville. Walt was born November 27, 1940 to the late Walter Riggs and Agnes Rogers Riggs of the Prospect Community in Blount County, Tennessee. Walt graduated from Porter High School in Blount County, Tennessee. He moved to Palmersville in 1974, to further his career as a farmer. He planted and harvested crops for 41 consecutive years on his Palmersville farm. In addition to his farm, Walt enjoyed rebuilding and showing antique cars; target shooting and hunting; and spending time with his friends, family and especially his grandchildren. Walt is survived by Rebecca Williams of Palmersville, TN; his son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Libi Riggs of Eads, TN; his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Travis Slater of Germantown, TN; and his sister and brother-in-law Joann and Joel Giffin of Maryville, TN. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Miller and Ellie Riggs, and Madeline, Timothy, Rachel and Annabeth Slater. Visitation will be held at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in Maryville, Tennessee, on Friday, May 1, 2015, from 12:00-2:00 pm. A graveside service will be held immediately following the visitation at Eusebia Cemetery in Seymour, Tennessee at 2:30 pm with Rev. Tom Waring officiating. A memorial service and celebration of Walt's life will also be held at his farm in Palmersville at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
