Goddard, Walter J., age 88 of Maryville, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Maryville First United Methodist Church, where he had been a member of the Choir for decades, retired from ALCOA after 46 years of service and was a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Service Club. He was a member of New Providence Masonic Lodge #128 and has his 50 year pin, was a 32nd Degree Mason, was past president of the Boys’ Club, and was past Scout Master at Maryville First United Methodist Church. Mr. Goddard was preceded in death by his parents, Walter L. and Agnes McCall Goddard and sister, Louise Hightower. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Compton Goddard; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Jo and Larry Fitzpatrick of Knoxville; son, W. James Goddard, Jr. of Maryville; sister, Ruth Cochran of Maryville; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Eugene Hamilton of Maryville; brother and sister-in-law, Boyd and Alice Goddard of Montgomery, AL; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brenda Carroll and Pastor Larry Carroll officiating. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. Sunday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. Members of the Wesley-Mitchell Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pall Bearers.
