W. Harold Taylor

June 22, 1923 — October 15, 2001

Taylor, W. Harold age 78 of Maryville passed away Monday October 15, 2001 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was active and contributed to the First United Methodist Church of Maryville and district for more than thirty years serving in many capacities including superintendent of the Sunday School, District Lay Leader, Church Council, and was recognized with the Distinguished Member Award in 1992. Mr. Taylor was involved in the Normandy Invasion at Omaha Beach and the Liberation of Paris during World War II. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Co. of America after 43 years of service. He was Chairman of the East TN. Council on aging for Blount County. He was recognized for his service in the East TN. Ombudsman Program as the patient advocate and mediator. He was preceded in death by: parents, Millard F. and Nannie White Taylor. Sisters, Myrtle Ray and Joyce T. Hines. Survivors include: wife, Fay Chatfield Taylor. Daughters and son-in-law, Beverly and David Sherrod, Nan and Steve Shirk, Amanda and Dale Schneitman. Grandchildren, Donald Eric Rogers, Whitney Michele Tuttle, Kevan Taylor Sherrod, and Kelley Anna Sherrod. Great- grandson, Spencer Jared Lambert. Sisters, Mary T. Nixon of Dallas, TX. Sister and brother-in- law, Delores and Bob Johnson of Savannah, GA. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3:30 PM Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at Maryville First United Methodist Church with Dr. Darris Doyle and Dr. Robert Wilcox officiating. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends 2:00- 3:30 PM at the Church.
