Virginia R. Rust, age 91 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation-Fairpark. She was a graduate of Oregon State University and University of Oregon and a 30-year volunteer docent at the Scaife Gallery of the Carnegie Art Museum, Pittsburgh, PA. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lt. Howard Wood, USAF (DSC) and RDM2 Ambrose G. "Rusty" Rust, USN; parents, Claude G. and Corinne E. Van Slyck Alexander; brother and sister-in-law, Robert V. and Addie Alexander; brother, C. Gordon Alexander; niece, Rose Alexander; grandson, Matthew Rust. Survivors include her daughter, Claudia Rust; daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and John Bleazey all of Maryville, Monica and Rev. Douglas Ogden of Whitehall, MI; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Melinda Rust of Maryville; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Alexander of Menlo Park, CA; 6 grandchildren and their spouses; 7 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, at New Providence Cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. Steve Mosher officiating. A reception will follow at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 314 W. Broadway Ave., Maryville, TN 37801. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 314 W.
