Virgil Garland

Garland, Virgil age 89 of Maryville passed away Saturday September 27th 2008 at his home. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, he was raised in Cades Cove, was a veteran of WWII, was retired from ALCOA with 43 years of service and a member of the 25 year service club and he loved his family. He is preceded in death by his daughter Deborah Garland Hendricks, parents Harv and Martha Ann Myers Garland, brothers Danie, Johnny, and Charles Garland, sisters Hazel Ivalean Garland, Margie Garland Edwards, stepmother Inis Amburn Garland, son in law John F. Miller and brother in law Harold Swaney. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Delia Dailey Garland, daughter and son in law Wilma and Danny Clark of Maryville, daughter Christine Miller of Maryville, sons and daughters in laws, Gary and Brenda Garland of Chatsworth GA, Eugene and Gail Garland of Maryvillle, grandchildren, Shannon Miller, Christopher Miller, Whitney Tipton, Amber Hampton, Jason Garland, Beth Bennett, Amanda Hendricks, Derek Hendricks, great grandchildren Emily Rose Miller, Abbigale Sarah Miller, Aidan Miller, Caleb Hardwick, Jadyn Tipton, Mollie Garland, Wesley Hampton and Tyler Garland Bennett who is expected in December. Son in law Randy Hendricks, brothers and sisters in laws, Hoyt and Polly Garland of Maryville, Paul and Sarah Garland of Maryville, sisters and brothers in laws, Lola and Fred Hall of Maryville, Josephine and Ralph Painter of Knoxville, Eloise and Marion Daly of Maryville, Corine and Howard Atchley of Maryville, Katherine and Raymond Mahan of Lenoir City and sister Ann Swaney of Almont TN, brother in law Jim Edwards of Ohio, several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alvin Patton and Rev. Jimmy Riner officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Grandview Cemetery with his grand sons Chris Miller, Shannon Miller, Jason Garland, Derek Hendricks, Michael Johnson, Kenny Garland serving as Pall Bearers, and great grand sons Caleb Hardwick and Aidan Miller serving as honorary Pall Bearers.
