Velma A. Chapman, age 90 received her wings 2/14/2012. She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel T. and Annie Chambers Welch; husband, Roy C. Chapman; sister, Hazel Welch; brothers, Troy and Orion T. Welch; son, Richard Chapman; and brother-in-law, James A. Brown. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Aurice Chapman; daughter-in-law, Linda Chapman; granddaughters and husbands, Robin and Cecil Andrews, Ginger and Chris Turner, Holly and Julius Garcia; and, grandson and wife, Patrick and Jamie Chapman; and great-grandsons, Walter and Coleman Andrews, Hunter Teaster, Garrett and Riley Chapman; sister, Lois Brown; sister and brother-in-law, Wilva and James Newman; sister-in-law, Tommie Welch; several nieces and nephews. She began teaching Sunday School at Chambers Creek Baptist Church and continued teaching Sunday School after moving to Tennessee. She was a member of the Friendsville Friends Meeting and took an active part in all physical and spiritual activities. She was devoted to her family, church and community and willingly helped those around her in any way she was able. She was an active member of the Blount County Home Demonstration Club. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She taught all who came within her sphere the Christian and proper way to live their lives. The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Colonial Hills Nursing Center and Loudon HealthCare Center for their tender and loving care. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Fowler officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Unitia Cemetery for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Friendsville Friends Meeting, P. O. Box 67, Friendsville, TN 37737.
