Trudy Davis Pickens, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away on July 18, 2018 after a brave two-decade battle with cancer. Trudy was born on November 2, 1954 in Fayette County, Tennessee to the late Winston and Ann McElwee Davis. She attended Tennessee Technological University and met Fred Pickens, who became her husband for forty years. The wife of a career U.S. Army officer, Trudy accompanied her family on many adventures across the globe where she shined her light on everything and everyone she encountered. A gregarious, kind, and giving woman, Trudy made friends with all and left each with countless memories. One friend described her best: Trudy made my heart dance with her kindness, humor, and down to earth personality. A view shared by many. Trudy is survived by her husband, Fred Pickens, and her two children: Gary Pickens and daughter-in-law Tia Pickens of Fort Hood, Texas; Susan Kern and son-in-law Matthew Kern of Prairieville, Louisiana. Her four grandchildren, who Trudy loved greatly, also survive her. Also, her sister Teresa Steinberg, brothers Mark Davis and Stephen Davis, as well as numerous relatives, in-laws, nieces, and nephews survive her. Trudy was a special lady loved and liked by many. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made out to Joubert Syndrome & Related Disorders Foundation (jsrdf.org). A visitation will be held this Saturday, July 28th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and a memorial service follows from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. Burial will be held immediately following the memorial service at Eusebia Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
