It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tresa Mello Hensley, 88, of Greenville, MS, who passed away peacefully on April 2nd, 2025, surrounded by her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Tresa Mello Hensley was born May 15th ,1936 in Altares Terceira Azores Islands to Francisco and Maria Mello. She came to the United State at the age of fifteen and lived in California where she met her husband of 58 years, James Hensley. They also lived in Phoenix, AZ, Memphis, TN, Maryville, TN and Greenville, MS. Before retiring to Greenville MS, she worked as a passenger support person at the Tyson McGhee Knoxville TN Airport in their information center until she retired at the age of 84. She welcomed everyone she met with a compassionate heart and her infectious smile. She dedicated her life to serving others, but her greatest joy was taking care of her family. She loved to cook and gather around the table to share food and laughter. She was a woman of strong faith, she trusted God in all situations and always thanked him for the many blessings He gave her through the years.
Tresa will be lovingly remembered by her husband, James Hensley, her children, Sheila Winter(Kenny) of Greenville MS, Sharon Woody (Richard) of Gulf Shores, AL Her 13 grandchildren, Jimmy Hensley, Kaitlin Wright, Courtney Wright(Sarah), Blake Hess, Mikey Wright(Ksenia), Austin Wright(Kristin), Ashley Knight(Justin), Lauren Haney(Randy), Austin Winter(Anna Lauren), Abby Sterling(Nick), Seth Wright (Alicia), Johnathan Woody and Walker Winter, her 17 great grandchildren, her sister-in-law, Sue Mello, her nieces and nephews, Mary Diaz(Joe), Joe Gonzales(Carmen), Lucy Ripley (Ed), Chris Mello(Tristan) and Amber Mello. Along with countless great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Francisco Mello, her mother Maria Mello, her sister, Maria Goncalves and her brother, Joe Mello, along with many other loved ones throughout her life.
Visitation and Service will be on Saturday, April 5th, 2025, at 11:00am at McCammon Ammons Funeral Home in Maryville TN. Burial to follow at Clarks Grove Cemetery in Maryville, TN. Her celebration of life memorial service will be Tuesday, April 8nd, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Greenville, MS.
