Thomas (Tom) Mcwilliams

September 16, 1940 — November 10, 2022

Thomas (Tom) McWilliams' ashes will be interred, with military honors, at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville TN, on September 15, 2023. The service will begin promptly in the cemetery's chapel at 12:30 p.m. Tom served 30 years in the US Army as a Green Beret with Special Forces, helicopter pilot in 1st Cavalry, and Master Parachutist in 82nd Airborne. Tom served three tours in Vietnam, and in Grenada he flew a Black Hawk assault helicopter to rescue American students. For his bravery and selfless acts, Tom earned over 40 medals which include Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Stars (two with valor), Purple Hearts (3), Master Parachutist, Master Aviator, and many more. Tom was ranked Chief Warrant Officer, CW4, at retirement in 1986. He also earned a bachelor's degree at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.


God bless you, Tom, for your service to our country and devotion to our Lord and your family. We welcome family, friends and Veterans to attend the ceremony to honor this American soldier.
