Thelbert ''T.J.'' Hicks

6-5-2011 Thelbert “T.J.” Hicks- age 86 of Maryville, passed away Saturday June 5, 2011 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was member of Broadway United Methodist Church and was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture after 33 years of service. He was a decorated Marine serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II, a member of the retired Federal Workers, AARP, and the Alcoa Kiwanis since 1982. Preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla; father and mother, W.T. Hicks and Hettie Faye (Guthrie) Hicks; brothers, Dolph, George, Harris, Kenny, and Frank Ray Hicks. Survivors include: daughter, Sharon K. Lafitte of Orlando, FL; step daughters and sons-in-law, Ruthie and Dick Barton of Cerritos, CA, Doris and Gary Lee of Gulliver, MI; grandchildren, Nick (Darlene) French, Tara French, Gary D. And Sarah Lee of Seattle, WA, Tonia (Steve) Porterfield of Clinton, MI, Nikki (Jason) Arno of Tecumseh, MI; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Elwood) Bunton of Orangeburg, SC, Charlotte Fuller of Union City, TN; special nephew, Joe (Betty) Young of Maryville; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Broadway United Methodist Church with Rev. Amy Probst officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alcoa Kiwanis, P.O.
