Steven Carroll Millard, 51, of Maryville, died Thursday, May 14, 2009, at his home after extended illnesses. Steve grew up in the Blount community and had many friends here. He was a sweet, considerate person who loved animals, particularly cats, the mountains and deep sea fishing. As a child, he was affectionately known as “Beaver.” He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Preceded in death by his brother, Bart Millard, his father, James H. Millard, his grandparents, Samuel and Margretta Sullenberger, and an aunt Sammie Calfee. He is survived by his mother, Priscilla Millard, of Maryville, his brothers Mike (Donna) Millard, of McMinnville, and Brett Millard, of Maryville, his sister, Bonny Millard, of Maryville, three nephews, Garrett, Jake and Adam, all of Maryville, niece, Hannah, of Johnson City, uncle, Blake Sullenberger, of Knoxville, aunts, Debbie Sullenberger, of Maryville, and Mary (Charlie) Grainger, of Huntsville, Ala., special friends, Debbie Hartman and Charlie Conley, and sister-in-law, Vickie Millard Jones. Receiving friends will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Maryville Church of Christ, 611 Sherwood Dr., Maryville. The funeral will be at the church at 4 p.m. Burial will be at a later time.
