Stephen Alvin Byers

Stephen Alvin Byers, age 68, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away March 16, 2017, following a lengthy illness. Stephen was born April 30, 1948, in Alcoa, Tennessee. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1970, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He had a distinguished engineering career, working for Southern Company, the Tennessee Valley Authority, Nuclear Utility Services Corporation, and ManTech International. Notably, he worked to clean up the Hanford nuclear Site in Washington State. He is preceded in death by his father, Alvin Lafayette Byers, and mother, Gloria Conner Byers. He is survived by his sister, Sharon Elizabeth Byers; his brother, Michael Thomas Byers (Ann); his nephew, Aaron Thomas Byers; and his niece, Emily Ann Byers. He was known by all as a kind, generous, faithful Christian and he will be greatly missed. In accordance with his wishes, he will be buried in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Parkinson Foundation (www.parkinson.org).
