It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear family member, Specialist 4th Class James "Jimmy" L. Minge, who passed away on March 10th at the age of 89. A dedicated and courageous soldier, Jimmy served honorably in the United States Army for three years. His legacy of service and commitment to others will forever be remembered and cherished. He worked hard his whole life and retired from Kay's Ice Cream and Blount County Schools. James was also a devout football fan of Maryville High School. He loved attending games on Friday nights and supporting the players. His favorite pass time was landscaping and woodworking. James is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Georgia Minge; sisters Mattie Copeland, Betty Jo Lovingood.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Minge; children, Ricky Minge, Tammy Wells, and Tonya Cupp (Billy); four grandchildren, Tyler Wells (Natalie), Ryan Wells (McKenzie), Bailey Cupp, Emily Cupp; great grandchildren, Oliver, Sawyer, and Sheperd. A special thank you to Melanie Boring, his VA Caregiver and his medical team: Dr. Scott from BMH, and UT Medical Hospice Care.
Receiving of friends service for Specialist James Minge will be Wednesday, March 12 from 5:00 to 7:00 at McCammon-Ammons-Click of Maryville followed by a graveside Military Honors service on Thursday, March 13 at 1:00PM at Sherwood Gardens in Alcoa,TN .
