Shelby Payne Harless

Shelby Payne Harless of Maryville passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the age of 82. She was a graduate of Walland High School Class of 1959, where she met her true love in teacher Mr. Neubert Harless. She graduated from Knoxville Business College and then started her lifelong career in banking.

After retiring, she spent her time cooking, drinking Starbucks, watching Vanderbilt Football, doting on her beloved grandchildren, and taking care of “fur-grands”, Pookie, Pixie, Phoebe, Darwin, and Paloma.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Neubert, and her parents, W.R. and Nancy Payne. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Dr. Jesse Robinette; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Dr. Patton and Miller Morris Robinette; three granddaughters, Payton, Paxton, and Preston; beloved siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews; special sister and brother-in-law, Tressie and Bill Henry and family; Connie and Gary Gutridge; and extended family and friends.

The family will be doing a private celebration of life and wants to express their sincere gratitude to Shannondale and its staff.
