Samuel L. Moses

October 24, 1949 — January 16, 2003

MOSES, Samuel L., age 53 of Maryville, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2003, at his home. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, was retired from ALCOA with 32 years of service, was a member of the 25 Year Service Club. He was an avid street rodder whose love of street rods led him to start the “Maryville Cruise-In” now held Friday nights, during warm weather, outside of Sears at Foothills Mall. He was preceded in death by his mother, Leo Milligan Moses and father, James L. Moses. Survivors include: wife, Deborah Cooper Moses; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and David Rhea of Gainesville, FL; daughter, Rhonda Stringer of Maryville; grandsons, Sean and Nickolas Stringer of Maryville; brothers and sisters-in-law, James “Jimmy” and Margaret Moses of Gray, TN, Robert “Bobby” and Deane Moses of Maryville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Wayne Stormer of Knoxville, Virginia and Lowell Smith of Maryville; mother-in-law and father- in-law, Georgia and Alvin Cooper of Maryville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wanda and G. W. Tipton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Butch and Margaret Cooper; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Butch Cooper officiating. The interment will be at 12:00 noon Saturday in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
