Samuel "Jerry" Long, 74 of Friendsville, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015. He was a retired mechanic, a volunteer fireman with the Friendsville Volunteer Fire Department since 1989, he was a hard worker and gave more than he received. He cared for the older folks, loved life, was a fisherman and loved to build things. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Hobert and Dove Grace Blevens Long. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Lee Long; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Teresa Long; daughter and son-in-law, Dove and Jeff Morgan; grandchildren, Levi Trentham, Lindsey Beth Morgan, Marilyn Margetts; Eli Samuel Long and Elizabeth Grace McMillan all of Friendsville; sisters, Dorothy Scarborough of Marietta, GA, Mamie Tipton of Maryville, Juanita Stafford of Florida; best friends, Mark Prater, Calvin Lynch, Carroll Huffstetler, Kevin "Rufus" Brown, Travis Caylor, Allen and Wayne Nelson, Ricky Hernandez and their 4 children and the Tarwater family. Funeral services will be at 8:00 p.m. Friday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dana Bentz and Tom Green officiating. The interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Unitia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
