Ruth Whaley Johnson

Ruth Whaley Johnson, age 82, of Alcoa died Thursday, November 20, 2003. She was born in Sevier County February 25, 1921. She was a member of East Alcoa Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also affectionately known in the community as the “Bargain Mart Lady”. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nancy Ann and Dan Whaley; brother, Reece Whaley and sister, Zora Whaley Stanton. Survivors include her son, Bob Johnson of Alcoa; daughter, Jeanne Johnson of Denham Springs, LA; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Larry Sherrill of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Lisa Sherrill Richter (Tim) of Springfield, TN and Adrian Busch Sherrill (Sarah) of Portland, OR; one great-grandchild, Emily Grace Richter; brother, Wayne Whaley (Eula) of Knoxville, TN; sister, Belle Whaley Chandler (Gilbert) of Sevierville and Ft Myers, FL. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, at East Alcoa Baptist Church, East Lincoln Road. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
