Ruth Perkins Giffin Rolen

Ruth Perkins Giffin Rolen, age 87, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, March 30, 20l3. She was born in Blount County, Tennessee, on January 26, 1926. She lived most of her life in Blount County with the exception of 20 years in Point Comfort, Texas during the 1950s and 1960s. She was a longtime, faithful member of Carpenters Campground Methodist Church. For many years she taught Sunday School and was the treasurer of Carpenters Cemetery. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy T. and Nora G. Perkins. She was blessed to have two wonderful husbands. Lee Giffin, her first husband of 27 years and the father of her children, who died in 1970. Herbert Denton Rolen, her husband of 38 years, who died in 2011. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Charles Perkins and a baby sister, Linda Lou Perkins. She is survived by her children, Phillip Giffin of Chattanooga Tennessee, Linda (husband Ray) Hester of Austin, Texas, Rebecca Becker of Fresno, California and Pamela DeBault of Missouri City, Texas. She is survived by 6 grandchildren, Michael (wife Stacy) DeBault, David DeBault, Greg (wife Lyra) Swinney, Jason (wife Severa) Becker, Jessica Becker, and Ania Giffin and 5 great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Millsaps and her husband John who faithfully loved, visited and assisted Mother with her health needs. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home on Thursday, April 4. Family visitation is at 5 pm with services at 7 pm. with Rev. Ken Tucker and Rev. Bob Dalton officiating. Family and friends will meet at Carpenters Cemetery on Friday at 11:00 a.m. for the interment service. The family wishes to express appreciation to the members of Carpenters Campground Methodist Church for their faithful remembrances and prayers for Mother, especially her good friend Barbara Cuel. Appreciation also is sent to the residents of Shannondale Assisted Living of Maryville for the wonderful friendships she enjoyed there, including her special friend Delbert York.
