Ruth Naomi Quillen Dyer, age 67 of Greenback, passed away Monday morning, September 27, 2004, after an 8 month battle with lung cancer. She was a member of Upper Shady Grove Baptist Church in Greenback. Ruth was best known for her piano playing in several churches and for the Antioch Quartet. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jarvin Archivee Dyer; parents, Ira and Blanche Quillen; sisters, Hazel Vineyard, Kathleen Hammontree; brother, Earl Quillen; nephew, Tony Vineyard. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Rev. William and Vickie Dyer of Greenback; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Rev. Mike Arp of Friendsville; grandchildren, Krista and Anthony Dyer, Caleb and Daniel Arp; brothers, Robert Quillen and Gene Quillen both of Lenoir City; sisters, Margaret McNeeley of Jacksonville, FL and Shirley Pratt of Corryton, TN; special great nieces, Kayla and Heather Cargile; many nieces, nephews and special friends. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie White, Rev. Robert Watkins and Rev. Jimmy Riner officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home to proceed to Friendship Baptist Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment service with Rev. John Russell, Rev. Bob Kirkland and Rev. Dean Bandy officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, at Friendship Baptist Church, 3310 Old Niles Ferry Road, Maryville, TN. All ministers and deacons are asked to be Honorary Pall Bearers. Many thanks to U. T. and St. Mary’s Hospital for their special care during her last days.
