Ruth Crawford Lamon

March 1, 1918 — September 1, 2005

LAMON, RUTH CRAWFORD, age 87 died Thursday September 1, 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard F. Lamon, parents, Mr. And Mrs. Hugh R. Crawford Sr. and brother Hugh R. Crawford Jr. A member of New Providence Presbyterian Church for more than 75 years, she served as an ordained elder, was an active member of the Women’s Association, serving as president, and received an honorary membership in the Commission on Ecumenical Missions and Relations. Ruth Lamon was an alumna of Maryville College, a former board member of the Blount County Girls Club, Blount County Children’s Home, and Church Women United. She was also an active member of The American Association of University Women and the Chilhowee Club. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Lester C. and Beth Lamon of South Bend IN, son and daughter-in-law, Howard L. and Ann Lamon of Knoxville and daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Sam Kyker of Maryville; Grandchildren, Ward(Becca) Lamon of Indianapolis, IN, Katherine(Tom) Paulson of Indianapolis, IN, Adrienne(Mike) Anderson of Maryville, Andy(Jodie) Lamon of St. Simon’s Island, GA., Emily Lamon of Knoxville, Chad(Carrie) Kyker of Indianapolis, IN, and Kent Kyker of Knoxville; Great-grandchildren, Morgan Lamon, Gregory and Thomas Lamon, Joseph, Madeline, and Katie Anderson, and Savannah, Sadie, and Sarah Paulson; Sister and Brother-in-law Lillian C. and John McQueen of Maryville, sister Elizabeth C. Roper of Kingsport, TN., and sister-in-law Adah L. Cooper of Maryville. Support for her family was her highest priority, but she welcomed so many people into her family circle. She reached out to others and her graciousness and warmth extended to all who entered her home. A memorial service will be held at New Providence Presbyterian Church Sunday September 4th, at 3 o’clock, with the Reverend Emily Anderson officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to the Women of the Church and Youth Programs at New Providence Presbyterian Church or to Maryville College, both in Maryville, TN.
