Ruby Leslie Jenkins

JENKINS, Ruby Leslie, age 84 of Maryville, passed away Friday December 5, 2003 at home. She attended Maryville College and graduated from the University of Tennessee. She was a member of the DAR and the American Clan Leslie Society. She taught elementary school in Monroe County and retired from the Blount County School System. She was a basketball player in high school and loved watching the Lady Vols. Because of her interest in genealogy and her love of family, Ruby organized reunions that brought together relatives from all over the U.S. She was preceded in death by parents, George and Annie Leslie, and brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Sue Leslie. Survivors include husband of 61 years, S.L. (Sam) Jenkins, son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Jan Jenkins. Daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bob Humphrey. Grandchildren, Jill Dickinson, Clay Humphrey, Jennifer Jenkins, Julie Jenkins, Katie Jenkins, David Jenkins. Great grandchildren, Ian and Garrett Dickinson, Hallie Valentine. Nieces Patsy Turpin and Linda Grantham. Faithful friends and members of First United Methodist Church of Alcoa. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Chapel conducted by Reverend Joe Green. The interment will follow by at Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 PM Monday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
