Ruby Evaline Gilliland

Ruby Evaline Service Gilliland, age 101, died of complications from a fall on May 4, 2017, at Asbury Place Health Center, in Maryville, Tennessee. Ruby is survived by her son, Rev. Thomas Gilliland and wife Kathleen Christy, of Maryville; her son, Dr. James Gilliland and wife Connie, of Centennial, Colorado; and her grandchildren Jesse Gilliland and wife Sara of Maryville, Tennessee; Kelsea Gilliland of St. Paul, Minnesota, Erin Gilliland of Maryville, Tennessee; Rachel Kaelin and husband Josh of Denver, Colorado and Emily Gilliland of Fort Collins, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her husband Rev. T. Matthew Gilliland, of Greenville, Pennsylvania; her sister Lucille Fisher, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and her brother, John Service, of Moline, Illinois. Ruby was born on October 4, 1915 in Red Oak, Iowa, to parents Rev. Wilbur Service and Margaret Wherry Service. In addition to being the daughter, wife, and mother of ministers, Ruby served as a missionary in the Sudan and Ethiopia. She was a member of Clover Hill Presbyterian Church where she regularly attended their quilter's group. She was also a lifetime member of Presbyterian Women. A memorial service will be held later this month and she will be buried with her husband in Greenville, Pennsylvania. McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home
