Roy V. (R.V.) Coppenger, age 88 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Select Speciality Hospital in Knoxville. He was a charter member and Deacon of Immanuel Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher and served as Church Treasurer for 36 years. He retired from ALCOA with 44 years of service and a member of the Alcoa 25 Year Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Annie Saunders Coppenger; brother, Herman Coppenger; sister, Helen Hooper; daughter-in-law, Sharen Templin Coppenger. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Eva Coppenger; children, Darell Coppenger and wife Karen, Dwain Coppenger and wife Judy, Brigette Gillespie and husband Jim, Kathy Coppenger, Mike Coppenger and wife Allison; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother, William Ray Coppenger; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 6:00 p.m. Sunday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Farmer and Rev. Greg Long officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Monday at New Providence Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Tellico Plains, for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
