Roy M. Connatser

Roy M. Connatser, born January 19, 1920, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013. Roy was drafted December 1942 and fought in WWII in Northern France where he joined General Pattons 3rd Army, 94th Infantry Division. He was captured by the German Army and held prisoner for 45 days. He was among Allied officers and soldiers involved in a prisoner exchange in the German held Lorient Sector of France. During his Army career he was awarded the Expert Rifleman, Good Conduct, French Medal for Bravery, Purple Heart, Prisoner of War, Service in European Theater and was discharged December 1945. After his service to his country, Roy was employed by The Alcoa Aluminum Company until his retirement in 1982. Roy was an active member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, Louisville, TN. He loved the Lord and enjoyed praising him in his Highway to Heaven Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary Ruth (White) Connatser; father and mother, Orie Wilson (O.W.) and Florence Mize Connatser; brothers, Alton and Fred; sister, Una Faye Connatser. Survivors include his daughter, Donna Kay Connatser, Louisville, TN; granddaughter, Mary Anne (Paul) Peltz; great grandchildren, Landon and Alessandra Peltz; sisters, Ola Mae Self, Laura Anne Connatser, Rubye Lee Allem Connatser; brothers, Ernest, Paul, Owen and Lemuel. Also leaving his dear friend and caregiver, Deb Gregory and many loved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny Armstrong officiating. The entombment will follow in Grandview Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Saturday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beech Grove Baptist Church, 1519 Topside Road, Louisville, TN 37777 or to the Louisville Christian Assistance Center (LCAC) c/o Beech Grove Baptist Church.
