Roy Gene Rogers, age 71 of Friendsville, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, was a member of the VFW and retired from McGhee Tyson Airbase as a Helicopter Crew Chief . He played basketball at Friendsville High School and while in the Navy. Preceded in death by his parents, Houston "Huse" and Fannie Mae Maxwell Rogers; brother, Robert H. Rogers; sisters, Helen Baker, Martha Noah, Bea Grubb, and Frankie Kivett. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Travis and April Rogers; granddaughter that was born on his birthday, Harper Anne Marie Rogers; sisters, Dot Linginfelter and Shirley Tipton; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara "Bobbie" and Glen Palmer; numerous loving niece and nephews, great nieces and great nephews; former wife and loving friend, Diana Rogers; special friends, Darrell Watson, Wayne Crisp, and Sue Swanner. Family and friends will meet 2:00pm Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Zion's Chapel Cemetery for a graveside service with military honors. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the East Tennessee Children's Hospital, P.O.
