Rowena Davis Wyrick, age 102 of Maryville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday afternoon, May 17, 2009, at Asbury Place Maryville. She was born October 22, 1906 to parents Nora Headrick Davis and James Robert Davis and grew up on the Davis Ford family farm in Blount County. She was a long-time member of New Providence Presbyterian Church, and was a retired school teacher in Blount County having taught at Porter Elementary for many years. She was also a member of the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flatery 12-5. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester D. Wyrick; her parents; sisters and brothers, Margaret Matilda, Alice Priscilla, Huse Davis, Ernest Davis, and Elmer Davis. She is survived by her devoted and beloved niece and caregiver, Colleen Burkhart of Maryville; beloved niece, Nora Kay Burns of Winchester, TN, and special caregiver, Georgianna Thompson. Rowena was a very special lady and a devoted friend to everyone she knew. She cared deeply about each individual student she taught, each family member, and every person with whom she crossed paths. She will be fondly remembered for these reasons. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Long officiating. The interment service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Grandview Cemetery.
