POORE, Rosemarie Rita Ceravelo, born September 22, 1956 in Baldwin, Long Island, NY, passed away on Saturday June 22, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. She received her BA Degree in Linguistics from Syracuse University, NY and received her MA Degree (also in Linguistics) from The University of Florida where she was a graduate teaching assistant and began studies toward a degree in Exercise Physiology. She moved to Maryville soon after her marriage in June of 1986 to Sam D. Poore of Maryville, who is an architect with Sterling Engineering, Inc. She began her teaching career at Heritage High School in January of 1988 and taught there until January of 2001. She was the chairman of the Foreign Languages Department, the organizer of the UNICEF Program, she sponsored the Spanish Club, and was the organizer of the schools yearly participation in the area schools’ academic competition held at Roane State Community College. During this time, she also received her accreditation in Informational Sciences from the University of Tennessee earning one of the highest grade point averages awarded by the Department up to that time. Her fathers family was originally from Calabria, Italy, and her father and mother met there and eventually came to the U. S. She has aunts and uncles who still reside there. She is survived by her husband, Sam DeWitt Poore; father, Frank F. Ceravelo of Baldwin, NY; mother, Helen Ranieri Mulligan of Beverly Hills, FL; sister, Johanna Annette Ceravelo of Baldwin, NY; mother-in-law, Floribel DeWitt Poore; sisters-in-law, Audrey Poore Caldwell of Maryville, and Dana Poore Houston of Knoxville; and a nephew, John Wilson Caldwell of Winston-Salem, NC. Memorial services will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church on Monday June 24th 2002 at 5:30 p.m. with Rev. Martha Sterne and Rev. Alan Cole officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rosemarie’s memory to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 314 W.
