Rosa L. Potter Gibson

November 12, 1928 — August 9, 2017

Rosa L. Potter Gibson, age 89 of Alcoa, went to her eternal home on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at home. She was a nurse serving in the U. S. Army where she received the rank of Lieutenant. She was a graduate of Knoxville General Hospital in 1952 and retired from Blount Memorial Hospital with 35 years of service. Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer (Shorty) Gibson; parents, Chester and Mary Potter; sisters, Ruth Potter and Dorothy Harrison. Survivors include her daughters, Betty Russell of Friendsville, Mrs. Robert (Beth) Cooksey of Pennsville, NJ; son, Charles Gibson and wife Pam of Maryville; brother, Johnnie Potter and wife Peggy of Maryville; sisters, Reva Thompson of Greenback, JoNell Gilbert of Seymour; grandchildren, Chris and Mike Russell, Linda and Marcia Cooksey, Katelyn Gibson, Lauren Gibson; great grandchildren, Destiny Henton, Hailey Henton, Kayla Dempsey, Sara, Lucas and Niko Russell; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Charles Carpenter officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Grandview Cemetery for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hickory Valley Baptist Church Bus Ministry, 3920 W. Lamar Alexander Pkwy., Friendsville, TN 37772.
