Ronald Carl Ogle died at home in Maryville, Tennessee on January 12, 2022, after battling dementia. He was born on February 22, 1949, the eldest of six children, to Carl Wesley Ogle and Edith Lorene (Mitchell) Ogle.
Ron graduated from Walland High School and completed mechanical and autobody training from a trade school. He married his wife, Joann, on September 5, 1969, and they had two children of their own: Amy and Greg. Ron was the thirteenth hire at Schegel’s/BTR, working in several positions including line operator and shift leader, and he spent thirty years in their service before retiring.
Ron was ordained at Pioneer Baptist Church into ministry and served as a deacon until the church closed, then later the family attended Maple Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Ron and Joann fostered children in their home through Omni Visions for over twenty years. Ron was a loving husband and father and was passionate with hobbies of mechanical work and woodcraft in his workshop. He also raised tobacco and cattle on the farm for a few years, but he found the most joy in his retirement years with the arrival of his grandchildren into the family.
Ron is predeceased by his parents and brothers Donnie and Jeff. Surviving family are his wife of 52 years, Joann Downing Ogle; daughter Amy (Chris) Brown of Maryville; son Greg (Cassie) Ogle of Knoxville; grandchildren Caleb, Noah, Hannah, and Elizabeth Brown, and Gracie, Ben, Andy, and Eleanor Ogle; many special foster grandchildren; sisters Robin (Dexter) Farris of Maryville, Sharon (Kenny) Pack of Louisville; brother Bobby (Connie) Ogle of Friendsville.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15th at McCammon Ammons Click Funeral Home in Maryville, followed by a service of remembrance at 2:00 p.m. Graveside service will be held at Centenary Cemetery, Maryville.
