Robert M. ''Buddy'' Thompson , Jr.

THOMPSON JR., Robert Minard “Buddy”, age 64 of Maryville, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 11, 2007. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and a good friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert M. Thompson, Sr. and Irene Cates Thompson. He is survived by wife, Nancy Thompson; children, Rebekah Thompson, Laura Thompson and fiancé Frank van Manen, Beth Ballard and husband David, David Brownlie, and Rick Brownlie and wife Carmen; grandchildren, David III, Eli, and Grace Ballard; Megan and Logan Brownlie; and Matthew Irwin; sisters, Mary Ann Thompson of Denver, CO and Florence Ellen Wood and husband Gerald of Cincinnati, OH. Robert attended the University of Tennessee where he received a B.S. in Forestry in 1967. He had a long career as a steward of our Tennessee forests and will be missed by many colleagues. He had a passion for nature that extended to all living creatures, large and small, which he passed on to his children, grandchildren, and people of all ages. Playing string instruments with his family was one of his greatest joys. He will be sadly missed. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Morgan Biggs officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Grandview Cemetery for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville.
