Robert Lowery Brown

Dr. Robert Lowery Brown died Monday, October 18, 2010, in Baton Rouge, LA, where he had relocated to be near family. He was born March 18, 1913, in Maryville, TN, to parents, Ernest Chalmers (Brownie) Brown and Jessie McCully Brown. He lived in Maryville, graduating from Maryville High School and from Maryville College in the Class of 1935. He continued his education through teaching fellowships at the Universities of Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio State. After receiving his Doctor of Science degree from Ohio State, Brown went to work for DuPont, first in Buffalo, NY, and then in Wilmington, DE. He completed a thirty-seven year career with the company in pharmaceutical research. He met his wife, Mildred Young, in OH. They made their home in West Chester, PA. They had two sons, Steven Craig Brown and David Ernest Brown. Brown was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, David; brother-in-law, Judson Murphy, and nephew, Robert Judson Murphy. Surviving are son, Steven; granddaughters, Cheryl Rabalais and Sandra Hilbun; seven great grandchildren; sister, Lois Brown Murphy; and grand niece, Melisa Murphy Rotton. A graveside memorial service is set for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, at Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Stanley Rushing officiating.
