Robert Lee Johnston

Robert Lee Johnston, age 89 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at Asbury Place in Maryville. He was born in Harriman, TN on November 5, 1921. He was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church for 53 years, was a veteran of World War II having served with the U. S. Army in North Africa and Italy. While in Italy he was baptized in the Mediterranean Sea in 1943. He worked at ALCOA at the Calderwood Facility and later worked and retired from Martin-Marietta in Oak Ridge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kate White Johnston; parents, Lee Roy and Bessie Smith Johnston; brother, Adrian Johnston. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Steve Williams of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Ellen Johnston of Wilson, NC; grandchildren, Derek Williams and wife Amanda of Knoxville, Lauren Williams of Knoxville, Jeremy Criswell and wife Gabi of Independence, KY, Kim Rowe and husband David of Anaheim, CA and Andrew Johnston of Boone, NC; great granddaughter, Sophia Williams; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to convey their sincerest thanks to the kind nurses and staff of Asbury Place in Maryville. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Howard Olive, Rev. Jerry Mantooth and Rev. Bob Dalton officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Kingston, TN for the interment service.
