Robert L. Merritt

MERRITT, Robert L., age 75 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member and former Deacon of Centenary Baptist Church, served with the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, was a 32nd Degree Mason, member and Past Master of the Mt. View Lodge # 519, member of the Shriner’s, York Rite and Scottish Rite. He was the former Administrator of Montvale Nursing Home and Founder of Chilhowee Nursing Center. Mr. Merritt was a devoted grandfather who instilled the love of baseball in his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Merritt and sister, Betty Jane McCarter. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Delta Paige Merritt of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Terrie and Walt West of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Penny Merritt of Mansfield, MO; grandchildren, Adam and Jill Merritt, Erin, Caleb and Jacob West; many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins; life long friends, Don Baker and Kenny Andrews. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Randolph and Dr. Robert L. Wilcox officiating. The interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Grandview Cemetery with Masonic Services provided by Mt. View Lodge. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Saturday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville.
