Robert L. Bowerman

Bowerman, Robert L., age 94 of Louisville, passed away peacefully at his home with his family on July 7, 2008. He was born October 1, 1913. He was a WWII Veteran in the European Theater of Operations U. S. Army, member of the 276th Battalion. He was a retired employee of the Aluminum Company of America, member of the 25 Year Club and United Steelworkers Local 309. He was a faithful member of Zion Chapel Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School until he became ill a few weeks ago. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Martela Keaton Bowerman; his parents, Francis Marion and Effie Bowerman; brothers, Sam and James Bowerman; sisters, Thelma McConnell, Alma Hobbs and Mary Bowerman. Robert is survived by his children, son, Allen and wife Carol Jo Bowerman; daughters, Joyce and husband Steve Law, Carol and husband Sam Lambert, Kaye and husband Bruce Sipe. He is also survived by his grandchildren, granddaughter, Christa and husband Roger Frost; grandson, Mark Bowerman, grandson, Sam and wife Kami Lambert; granddaughter, Jennifer and husband William Justice; grandson, Brian and wife Danielle Sipe and granddaughter, Lauren Sipe; and his great grandchildren, Carlin Frost, Zarren Sipe, Nicolas Lambert and Kylie Lambert. Robert is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews, precious friends and neighbors as well as his beloved church family. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 9, from 6-8:00 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, at Zion Chapel Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., the body will lie in state from 10-11:00 a.m. The interment will be in the Zion Chapel Cemetery.
