Robert (Bob) Judson Murphy, 66, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 from an aortic aneurysm. A native of Maryville, Bob is preceded in death by his father Judson Boynton Murphy. He is survived by his mother Lois Brown Murphy of Maryville, his daughter Lisa Murphy Rotton of Knoxville, son-in-law Jeffrey Rotton and grandchildren Kaitlyn and Preston. Bob attended and was confirmed at New Providence Presbyterian Church, where he also became an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Maryville High School, Vanderbilt University and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force. Bob began his career working in marketing for Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio before returning to Maryville to join his father in the family’s automobile and motor home businesses. In association with his father, Bob developed Turnberry Vista, Boynton Place and Jamestown Village. As the proprietor of Murphy Marketing, Bob returned to his marketing roots and, for many years, handled the advertising for the Airport Motor Mile. He was a former member of the Maryville Kiwanis Club, where he had served as president and secretary/treasurer. Bob was the Senior Warden for Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in 1976 where he also sang in the choir. Bob had a great love for his family, and in recent years focused on caring for his mother. Services for Robert (Bob) will be held at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church at 3:00pm, Tuesday, May 18, 2010. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Maryville Kiwanis Foundation, 576 Foothills Plaza Drive, PMB 154, Maryville, TN 37801-2305.
