Robert Raymond “Bob†Selcer, of Louisville, TN, died at his home on June 13, 2009. He was born October 30, 1948 in Corpus Christi, TX to the late Fred and Betty Selcer. He was a beloved father and friend and an esteemed board-certified veterinary neurologist. He received both his BS and DVM from Texas A&M in 1970 and 1971, respectively. He earned an MS and completed a neurology residency at Purdue University in 1975. He was on faculty at the University of California at Davis from 1975-1977 before moving to Knoxville in the summer of 1977. He served as an associate professor of neurology in the Small Animal Department at UTCVM from 1977 until he retired in 2003. Bob is survived by his wife, Peggy; children, Michael Robert, 23, and Kathryn Elizabeth “Katieâ€, 21, of Knoxville, many relatives in Texas, life-long close friends, and by the many students, veterinary patients and their owners, whose lives he enriched through his knowledge, skill, and compassion. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and being with his children, closest friends, and his dog CeeCee. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Middlebrook Gardens in Knoxville, TN. A memorial service starting at noon will follow.
